Master Skills Australia specialises in Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessments for tradies. We understand that construction is full of people who can do the job—but don’t have the piece of paper to show for it.
That’s where RPL comes in: we assess your real on-site experience against the qualification requirements using evidence like photos, plans, reports, videos, and toolbox talks. Once you meet the requirements, we award your qualification.
Some people seek a qualification as part of a builder licensing/registration pathway. Requirements vary by state/territory and regulator and may include additional criteria beyond holding a qualification.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a way to turn the skills you’ve built on the tools into a nationally recognised outcome - without sitting in a classroom for stuff you already know. You’ll be assessed based on real work evidence (plus a structured chat with an assessor), and that evidence is mapped against the qualification requirements.
Costs vary by qualification. Head to the relevant qualification page to see the current pricing listed there.

Yes! RPL is a nationally recognised assessment pathway conducted by an RTO, using evidence and assessor judgement against unit requirements.
It depends on the qualification and units, but may include job documents, records, photos, project examples, and workplace conversations.
How long is a piece of string? The timeframe is dictated by how long it takes you to gather up the required evidence. On average, it usually takes a tradie working full time about 4 to 8 weeks.
If gaps are found, we’ll explain what’s missing and discuss options (including gap training where suitable).
